This is one of my favorite recent studio shots caught of a little Chorkie (Chihuahua/Yorkie mix) named Reggie! Reggie is about 9 months old in this photo. He is actually a pretty shy little guy, so this photo made me happy, to capture him being his silly, young self while he did some tricks for his mom.

Cameras and lighting can sometimes be daunting to dogs in a studio setting, so we always take the time to let the dogs get acclimated to the environment, camera noises and flashes, prior to shooting.

This photo was taken on a dark red marbled backdrop with a simple two light setup, a backlight, a hooded light on the subject and the Speedlight on my camera for the flash (usually my go-to in studio portraits). I like to keep the lighting units small, as sometimes those huge light fixtures can be a little overwhelming.
